Nagpur:Â Even as passenger services are getting increasingly popularized on the Sitabuldi Interchange-Khapri Metro Station stretch and Maha Metro awaits launch of similar services along Sitabuldi Interchange-Lokmanya Nagar Metro Station segment, the track laying work along the important route of Sitabuldi Interchange-Automotive Square Metro Station has begun.
The track work along the Metro alignment, which runs parallel to Kamptee Road, assumes a lot of significance as this road has one of the highest traffic density, with educational institutions, banks, hospitals, commercial establishments lined up on either side of the Road. The track laying work is being executed between Zero Mile and Kasturchand Park Metro Stations.
Till now, track has been laid on a stretch of 1 km approximately. The track work has been started simultaneously on the up and down side between Zero Mile Metro Station and Kasturchand Park Metro Station and both stations have history of their own. While Zero Mile is considered to be the geographical centre of the country, Kasturchand Park is known for its history dating back to pre-independence era.
The heavy traffic and vehicular density, especially with heavy vehicles moving on it, makes traveling through Metro all the more better option. The stretch from Sitabuldi Interchange to Automotive Square Station is 7.2 km long and 7 stations are proposed in the stretch. The Track Department team is working overtime to lay track along the route.
