Nagpur: Bhonsala Military School, Nagpur celebrated its XXIVth Annual Day January 3 to 4. Suryaratan Daga, Chairman, CHMES Nagpur Division was the Chief Guest of the function.The function started off by a ceremonial Parade. The Parade was commanded by School Cadet Captain Yash Ambulkar. The Parade comprised by four Armed Columns, one band contingent and 21 Horses and Nishan Toli; which was led by School Cadet Vice Captain Sushant Raut.The other contingents were led by School Cadet Adjutant Sarang Gharat, Company Cadet Adjutant Aniket Danav, Cadet Raunak Atram, Cadet Mahi Batra, Band Major Vedant Ashtankar and the Riding Contingent was commanded by Company Cadet Captain Hemant Gakre.
The impressive display of Ceremonial Parade was followed by an Aeromodelling Show, using aircraft models, which are designed and controlled by the cadets. The six Air Craft models used were controlled by Cadet Shivansh Shaoke, Cadet Aditya Kulmethe, Cadet Shaksham Bist, Cadet Ansh Nitnavre, Cadet Sahil Pandhram, Cadet Rishabh Vishwakarma, Cadet Shantanu Pachbhai, Cadet Kartik Duggal, Cadet Atharva Chavhan, Cadet Atharva Joshi, Cadet Nitesh Fulwadhwa and Cadet Sai Rakhade.After the aeromodelling show cadets displayed glimpses of various sports viz fencing, boxing, kho-kho, kabaddi, wrestling, volleyball, football, handball, basketball, karate and athletics.
This was followed by an excellent display of Gymnastics. Cadets showed different moves of Artistic Gymnastics with perfection. The cadets also showed their courage and agility by jumping through the fire ring.Bhonsala Military School being the only school in Nagpur to provide training in equestrian events. The Annual Day function also comprised of a demonstration by the school’s riding team. The riding demonstration included the show of various gaits of Horse and obstacle jumping which was performed by the cadets.
The riding demonstration was followed by the performance of the school Brass Band. The cadets very fluently played the tunes of Scouts, Sripad, Verda, Kedar, Marney, Tik Tik, Chetak and Jaiasthuthe. The Brass Band was commanded by Band Major Vedant Ashtankar.After the demonstrations the formal proceedings were started off by the introduction and welcoming of the Chief Guest Suryaratan Daga, Chairman CHMES Nagpur Division.
Following awards were given during the function :-
- Best Sportsman was given to Company Cadet Captain Vednt Ghodmare
- Best in Drill was given to School Cadet Adjutant Sarang Gharat
- Best in Academics was given to Cadet Amartya Bansal
- Best Bhavan Trophy was given to Tanaji Bhavan
- The Trophy for the Champion Company went to Shivji Company
- The most coveted award of the Best Cadet was given to SCC Yash Ambulkar
This was followed by the address by Kumar Kale, Secretary, CHMES Nagpur Division. Chief Guest Suryaratan Daga, Chairman CHMES Nagpur Division, Tarun Patel, Vice-Chairman, CHMES Nagpur Division, Kumar Kale, Secretary, CHMES Nagpur Division, Arch Dilip Chawhan, Treasurer, CHMES Nagpur Div, Col J S Bhandari (Retd), Commandant, BMS Nagpur and Ajay Shirke, Head Master, BMS Nagpur, were seated on the dais.
Prominently present for the function were Col A K Sharma, Veteran Joint Director, NCI Nagpur, Col Ravi Ramani, Veteran, General Manager, NCI Nagpur, Col Subhash Sinha, Commanding Officer, No. 2 Mah Armd Squadron, NCC, Nagpur. In a colorful cultural night on January 3 cadets performed four (04) group dances and two (02) short dramas, one in English and one in Hindi.
On this occasion the Chief Guest, for the evening Dr Supriya Kumar felicitated the National achievers of the school. School Cadet Vice Captain Sushant Raut (Boxing), Cdt Sumit Kawade (Taekwondo), Cdt Aharth Nagrale (Athletics) and Cdt Ravikant Gawade (Volleyball) were awarded.
The other awards presented for the evening were Best Rider – Company Cadet Captain Hemant Gakre, Best Shooter – Cadet Netradeep Mhase, Best in Pipe Band – Cadet Cizen Khan, Best in Brass Band – Cdt Dev Palliwar.
On this occasion, the staff of the school was also awarded for their services. The Best Teacher Award went to Prem Khadsinge, Best Admin Staff award went to Subhada Panse, Best Military Instructor award was bagged by Sub Ram Navlakhe.
