The lack of waiting room in Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital is really creating difficulty for the relatives of the patients as they have to sleep in open in the chilling winter without having any other option. This is a grave issue that demands attention.
The hospital was commenced in 1862 and it is famous not only in Vidarbha but also gets patients from five adjoining states and nearly all the 882 beds are always occupied. As per information, the administration has already sent many proposals for the waiting room to the government but it has not get green signal yet.Afterwards, the hospital administration made tin sheds in the verandah of pharmacy, gynecology departments and old operation theatre to facilitate as a waiting room.
For the waiting room purpose, Rs.1.25 crore has been collected for the waiting room. And a 2500 sqft waiting room having a capacity of 40 persons seating arrangements is being constructed behind OPD.It is not adequate for all the people. In this regard, Dr.Ravi Chavan Mayo Medical Dy superintendent stated that the construction of the new waiting room through the funds given by Power Grid Corporation is in process and they are expecting that the waiting room would likely to hand over to the hospital in five to six months.
