Whether we can say  sportsman spirit or love for cycling this family of four from Nagpur indeed proved to be an example for those who really love adventures.Yes,we are talking about the family of Hasan Shafiq and Sarah Shafiq and their two daughters named Batul(14) and Fatema(10),they have started the cycling expedition from Panaji (Goa) on December 23 and reached Nagaon village in Alibaugh tehsil of Raigad on December 30.During this expedition, they covered the stretch of Western Ghats from Goa to Sindhudhurg,Ratnagiri and Raigad districts in Konkan in just nine days pedalled over 500kms.
Hasan Shafiq said that they trained for this expedition in city itself.Batul and Fatema they were equally excited for this expedition.Batul remarked that she loves sports and exercise regularly and the enthusiastic participation of people really excited her. And Fatema was the youngest cyclists in the expedition to pedal the entire stretch on her own.Hasan said that every day they would start at 7 in the morning, ride on an average 65 km for almost 12 hours to reach the day’s destination before sunset.
The tough terrain of Western Ghats was in every sense a complete challenge for them .However their mental strength survived all the hurdles and finished their expedition successfully. The expedition was conducted by Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) witnessed participation by 29 cyclists from across the country.
