The third edition of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav was inaugurated in a glittering function at Yeshwant stadium on Sunday evening.Indian female wrestler Babita Phogat, actor turned politician Sunny Deol, actor Sharad Kelkar, Indian wrestler Vivek Suhag,  Maharashtra sports minister Sunil Kedar Union minister Nitin Gadkari, mayor Sandip Joshi, former ministers Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Parinay Fuke, MP Dr Vikas Mahatme, MLA Krishna Khopde, MLA Vikas Kumbhare, MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, former MLA Milind Mane, city BJP president Pravin Datke, former minister Surekha Kumbhare, deputy mayor Manisha Kothe and others shared the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, wrestler Babita said the parents should make their daughters dhakad (tough). The sportspersons have lot of energy and if it is utilised properly then nobody can stop them from achieving their goals”, she said. She also appealed to the players to work hard and avail the opportunities.
MP Sunny Deol too motivated the students in his unique style. He said, “Victory and defeat are the part and parcel of life. What the important is their participation. Sports make your life disciplined and help one to think positively. The games should be played with sportsman spiritâ€, he said. Actor Sharad Kelkar also spoke on the occasion.
Union minister Nitin Gadkari in his address expressed the need for more infrastructure for the sports in the city. “The main aim behind the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav is to produce talented sportspersons who can be laurels to the country in futureâ€, he said.
Gadkari signed off by urging the youth to take inspiration from Swami Vivekanand to become good human being.
Earlier mayor Sandip Joshi made introductory remarks. Dr Padmakar Charmode an RJ Rajan conducted the proceedings. Babita administered an oath of sportsman spirit to the players. The programme concluded with national anthem.
