Kachipura playground likely to turn into a parking lot

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) seems to be converting Kachipura playground into a parking lot, said the residents as the whole playground is covered with huge gravels. This is the second case of concretizing a playground in the city; previously the same step by NMC was taken at Priyadarshini colony playground.

Following the action taken by NMC, the residents agitated and activist Akshay Samarth visited the spot who then alerted NMC officials about destruction of playground.  During his visit Samarth said, “It is a contempt of court that the playground is being covered with gravels and according to NMC norms the playgrounds should be open to sky and should be playable.”

According to the residents, it is a waste of public money by the municipal department. The residents also said that the playground was the only spot for children to play and for the sports person to practice that what they love. Now, as the whole ground is covered in gravel there are high chances to get slipped while running or for our children fall from the bicycles. A strict action should be taken against the authority, said Anil Wadpalliwar, one of the residents of Kachipura.

Wadpalliwar also alleged that the NMC officials are always acting in their most irresponsible way and seem to just clear the bills without actually visiting sites.
