It is really shocking for those who reside in Laxmi Nagar and Dharampeth zones as recently in a water samples test conducted by the civic body 27 out of 31 water samples found to be polluted and not at all suitable for human consumption.
As per information, the water works department (WWD) had carried out the test with the help of Regional Public Health Laboratory and Government Medical College and Hospital in the city. They have collected samples from different areas of the city including slums, raw water, elevated reservoir storages and various other localities. For this purpose they have taken many parameters consisting of turbidity, hardness, fluoride, colour test and odour. And the NMC official said that if the residents regularly clean the tanks it will be in good condition and they can drink the water straight from the tap.
And during this procedure, the highest numbers of contaminated water samples were found in Dharampeth zone. After Dharampeth the next area reported to be having contaminated water was Laxmi Nagar zone. On the contrary the exercise also proved that most slum dwellers are getting safe water. The NMC official also said that whenever they get a complaint they cease supply of water to the areas and water is supplied through tankers and take immediate action to remove the contaminated water as early as possible.
