The popularity of wine has started gaining momentum in Vidarbha which is definitely making good scope for wine tourism in the region. In view of this, a full-fledged winery commenced in Bhandara few months ago, for the first time in Vidarbha.
As per information, SP Wineries is all set to expand their business in Nagpur by next month and also triggering to venture in premium wine segment by next year.
This venture is really a hobby transformed into a full-fledged business, and the person behind the business is Shashichandra Jaiswal whose family owns retail liquor shops and started the wine production out of his passion for it. The beginning was from ‘home made wines’. During this journey, he secured a licence for a winery. He with the help of Nashik vineyard-owner friend started work on his factory in 2017.He brought grapes from Nashik for the purpose of commercial production of port wine. And in 2019 the first batch was bottled.
Jaiswal informed that a bottle of port wine sells for around Rs.200-Rs.230 and similar sized bottle of premium wine will go for at least Rs.750.Deepak Khanuja; director of Nagpur Wine Club said that it is matter of pride that wines being made in Vidarbha are available in the market. At present their sale is concentred in Bhandara and they soon going to expand their sale in Nagpur by the end of February.
