Dharampeth M.P Deo Memorial Science College in collaboration with Nutrition Society of India; Nagpur Chapter and Aastha Children’s hospital organised ‘Healthy Children Healthy Nation’ programme on January 17 at APJ hall.
Vice Principal, Dr. Mrs. Archana Kulkarni welcomed the guest speaker Dr. Praveen Khapekar with sapling and presided over the program. In her speech she appreciated the faculty members of the Nutrition department of the college for organizing a guest lecture in collaboration with NSI, Nagpur Chapter and expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Principal of the college Dr. Akhilesh Peshwe. Dr Praveen Khapekar is the founder of Aastha children hospital. He started the hospital in 2002 with a vision to provide quality services to new born baby and children at affordable cost.
During the Healthy Children Healthy Nation’ programme, Dr. Khapekar addressed the students on importance of nutrition in first 1000 days of child. He stressed on proper counselling at pre-conception stage and maintenance of optimum nutrition during pregnancy and in first two years of a child’s life.
Programme was compered by Dr. Mayura Kathane while the speaker was introduced by Pradnya Bagalkote, Treasurer, Nutrition Society of India, Nagpur Chapter. Vote of thanks was proposed by Meghna Pandit, Joint Secretary, Nutrition Society of India, Nagpur Chapter.

Radha, Convener, NSI NC, Dr. Shakti Sharma, Co-Convenor, NSI NC, Vinita Mehta, Secretary, NSI NC, Dr. Pratima Shastri, President, Apang Mahila Bal Vikas Sanstha, Dr. Ranjana Kulat, Sr. Professor, Dept of Home Science, Dr. Srilaxmi Potluri, Shilpa Mandlekar, were also present at the programme.
