Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana and Dharampeth Krida Mandal will meet in yet another basketball championship final, this time in Khasdar Krida Mahotsav.
While the home team from SNG rode on the 27-point game-high effort of their star forward Swati Wankhede to make light work of Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) 50-22, DKM girls defeated Gurudeo Nagar Krida Mandal 38-18 in their respective semifinals of the inter-club U-16 basketball championship on Friday.
In the first semifinal, Swati scored baskets from all corners as Ekta Metkar (10) came up with valuable contributions to take SNG to the finals with an easy 28-point win over NBYS. After both the teams netted identical eight points in the first quarter, SNG girls snatched the game away from NBYS by dominating the second and third quarters 18-4 and 17-3 respectively.For NBYS, Aditi Narsinghkar (12) was the only player to get a double digit total.
Similarly, the second semifinal between DKM and GKM too started on a low-scoring note. After DKM girls took a point lead in the first quarter (4-3), they played some attacking game in the remaining quarters pocket a 20-point win. DKM won the remaining three quarters 10-2, 10-6, 12-7 respectively.
For the winners, Sneha Khandelwal and Sameeksha Chandak netted identical 14 points.RESULTS (all semifinals)
