world Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Centralised Access to Search and Examination (CASE), a specialised agency of the United Nations in cooperation with Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks with assistance of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) was organised two days National Workshop WIPO CASE on Patent Searching & Examination at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of IP Management, Nagpur (RGNIIPM) on January 21 and 22, 2020. The inauguration of the training programme was chaired by Mr.Juneho Jang, Senior Manager, Industrial Property Office Business Solutions Division (IPOBSD), World Intellectual Propoerty Organisation (WIPO), Geneva in presence of Mr.Yuichi Mano, Senior Project Officer, IPOBSD, WIPO, Geneva, Mr.Hirono Yoshikai, Japan Patent Office (JPO), Mr.Jihan Kwon, Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), Korea, Dr.Rajesh Dixit, Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs, Dr. Pankaj Borkar, Deputy Controller of Patents & Designs and Head, RGNIIPM. During the said programme, Mr. Piyush Garg and Mr. Ajay S Meena, both Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs, Patent Office, Delhi were also present.
Total 93 participants including Examiners of Patents & Designs from Patent Offices are participating in the said two days WIPO-CASE National Training Programme. The main motto behind the conduction of National Workshop is to understand the Patent Searching and Examination and to increase the working skill of the Examiners who are especially assigned the work to prepare search report the ISA/IPEA cases. All the dignitaries on the dais were welcomed with sapling and memento(s) by the officials of RGNIIPM, viz. Mrs. Pooja Maulikar, Mrs. Padma, Mrs. Nilima Turankar and Ms. Sumitra Diwan on the said occasion, whereas the programme was compared by Mr. Sarang Patil.
In the inaugural address, Dr. Pankaj Borkar, Head, RGNIIPM welcomed the dignitaries and participants of the programme and conveyed gratitude to the WIPO officials for considering RGNIIPM, Nagpur for opportunity given to host the National training programme, whereas, Dr. Rajesh Dixit, Dy Controller of Patents and Designs, PCT International Division, Patent office, Delhi in his opening remarks; praised the efforts of WIPO & RGNIIPM in conduction of such a training programme and hopeful that this would be very useful for the Examiners to evaluate their working skills and enable them to learn the examination strategy with due help of JPO & KIPO delegation. Dr. Dixit further assured to provide all kind of assistance to WIPO for efficiently conducting such programmes in future also.
Mr. Juneho Jang, WIPO, highlighted the various initiatives taken by WIPO CASE and focused on the importance of centralized access to search and examination, which help the Examiners for speedy disposal of the cases. Mr. Jang further stated that this is the first of its kind to organize a workshop on patent searching and examination in India and hope for future endeavor too. He also informed about the accession of the various international treaties during last couple of years and future plans.
Mrs. Pooja Maulikar, Examiner of Patents & Designs of RGNIIPM proposed the Vote of Thanks and congratulates all the concerned involved in conducting this training programme for their efforts to make the programme as grand success.
