The NMC has decided to impose fine to the owners of open plots filled with garbage. As per information; the health department of the society is also put forward to impose a charge of Rs.50 per sq mtr from such owners. Recently several residents in the city complained to the mayor that open plots are posing serious health hazards for the citizens.
In this regard, the health department of civic body had submitted a proposal to the standing committee in which they even recommended to auction such properties if owners fail to keep the place clean.
As per the proposal if garbage is found on any open plot, the department would issue a notice to remove it in two days. If the owner failed to do so, the person has to pay the cost involved in cleaning the garbage. And if the owner fails to pay the expenses incurred and in stopping garbage being dumped on his/her property. The civic administration will auction such properties.
Earlier, the civic administration had asked the owners of open plots to remove the litter from their property. They had passed strict bylaws for waste dumping on open plots. Yet it remains uncleared. As a result the NMC could not frame strict rules regarding the nuisance. As per information, the officials will take a photograph of the garbage before removing it and use it as evidence.
