In a joint action by the Assistant Commissioner of all zones, the encroachment department, the nuisance investigation team, sanitation department, public works department, market department and assistant superintendent of joint municipal zones around 40 unauthorized markets, bazaars in different areas of the city were demolished on Saturday. The action was also against 2,500 vegetable vendors and food vendors. Apart from this, the action was taken today at markets in other parts of the city from 7 am.Daily or weekly markets are held in different areas of the city However, these vegetable vendors take advantage of the rush in the market and stretch the stalls on the road. This action by the vendors causes problems for the citizens roaming in the market. In this regard, mayor Sandip Joshi had received many complaints during his ‘Walk and Talk with Mayor initiative, grievance redressal camp, Janata Darbar.
Taking serious note of all this, the mayor installed a committee under the chairmanship of corporate Dayashankar Tiwari over the encroachment.
The Committee had laid down the rules regarding the encroachment and presented it before the House. Following the approval of the House, the mayor directed that the encroachment be removed.
