The outbreak of Coronavirus is already created panic across the country.And the civic body of the city has resorted all the measures for restricting Coronavirus epidemic out of city. With Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), under the guidance of Dean Dr Sajal Mitra, arranging 7-bed isolation ward for Coronavirus patients, second suspected patient has been admitted to the hospital.
However, MIHAN India Limited (MIL) that runs Dr Babasaheb Amedkar International Airport hasn’t received any instructions from the Government for screening for Coronavirus of those coming from abroad. Ruhi Abid, Senior Airport Director of MIL said that they have got the enquiry from the authorities whether Nagpur runs the air services to Thailand, China, Singapore, etc., or flights come from these places? Since they replied no, they have not received any further instructions. People going abroad prefer to go to Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, etc., as per their convenience. At these airports screening is being done scrupulously. The only precaution they have taken is that they have asked the staff to wear masks, hand gloves.They have also advised them to take precaution as to not to shake hands, use personal handkerchief etc.
Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, Deputy Director of Public Health, stated that there are specific instructions from authorities, the people coming from China and specially coming from Huan premises where Coronavirus patients have been found should be screened.There is a protocol at government hospitals. Secondly, there is no such treatment available for handling these patients.
A delegation of some doctors met Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe and requested him to do the needful. According to these doctors, the slaughtering in open market area can spread Coronavirus. Dr Rajan Barokar, well-known Critical Care expert said that whosoever is coming from countries like China, Thailand, Singapore, France, should be isolated for some time.
