After failure to respond to public interest litigation, seeking supply of helmets by the two -wheeler dealers to every customer, the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court has summoned 17 major two-wheeler dealers in the city. And the court directed them to remain present in the court on February 12.
Similarly, the court also threatened that their dealership will be dismissed on not attending the court.
The dealers receiving summons include Tajshree Motors, Sudarshan Motors, Rishikesh Motors, Arun Motors, Nangiya Motors, KTM Motors, Kusumgar Motors Paragon Trade, AK Gandhi Motors Muscat Motors, Jayka TVS, Unnati,Hero Motors.Indrayani Motors Paint Motors and Adviv
Automobiles. It is mandatory as per rule 138 (4) of the Central Motor vehicles act1989 for the manufacturers to provide two head gears to those purchasing a two wheeler.
However, this rule is not followed. As a result, Saurabh Bharadwaj and Manishsingh Chavan filed a PIL in the court. The hearing on this PIL took place before the bench of justice duo Ravi Deshpande and Amit Borkar.
