Electricity has been a far-fetched dream for the villagers of the Jiwati tehsil of Chandrapur district as after the 73 years of independence; the villagers are still in darkness and craving for electricity.
As per information, the condition is that the locals of this small hamlet Lakhmapur have to go to another village to charge their mobile phone. The electricity distribution panel (DP) and poles have been installed in the village but still the power has not reached and people have to spend the night in the dark. The village is located near Marai Patan.
Most people in this area belong to tribal and Gond community. As per the official source, the Gram Panchayat had sent a proposal for power supply to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL). But till now there is no electricity supply in the village. As per information, an electric pole was installed by the power distribution company to give electricity connection to dwellers. Wire was also laid, but due to the hilly area, many poles fell, which foiled the attempt to supply electricity to this village. As per information, a proposal was sent regarding in this matter, and waiting for the approval and after it the tenders would be floated.
