To clear out the rumors which are being spread about Corona Virus, on social media platforms, Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Science University (MAFSU) had held a press meet on February 10. The press meet was organised to discuss and clear out any questions media has got on the current situation about the virus, as media is the only medium between people and government bodies. In recent fake news which was spread on Whatsaap, it was mentioned that the consumption of chicken and eggs is harmful and could lead to getting infected by Corona Virus. The Director of Research, NV Kurkure of MAFSU cleared this doubt in the presence of all the media persons. He said “Consumption of any kind of meat is not harmful at all, especially in Vidhabra District, as we are far away from the region where the virus has spread. In fact for the virus to grow, a suitable atmosphere is needed which is high percentage of humidity and low temperature. But as we all know our region is quite opposite of it.â€
It is also seen that the sales of Eggs and Chicken are going down tremendously and each wholesale buyer is in loss of rupees 30 per bird. Just two months back the eggs had got a raise in price, which cost rupees 4 per egg but due to all the rumors which has been spread, people are avoiding chicken and eggs. And as the items sold (i.e: egg and chicken), in this business line have a very less expiration date, the industry has to sell out all the products anyhow and in any rate.
