The director of NSD, Suresh Sharma today addressed the inaugural function of the internationally acclaimed Bharat Rang Mahotsav. Sharma said that if they get proper support from the state government they will surely create another centre of NSD in Nagpur. The inauguration and the first play (Ek Zunj Varyashi) of the seven-day long event in the city were staged at Sai Sabhagruha on Sunday. This is the 21st year of the festival and this year the festival will last for 45 days. Nagpur will host 7days.
Sharma further expressed that it is overwhelming to see the dedication and passion for theatre in youth. Just that an artist must be open to seeing the work of his other contenders as without that, he won’t be able to analyse his work properly and find the room for improvement. Noted senior theatre artiste Madhu Joshi was the guest of honour at the programme.
NSD Repertory Grant Committee member Dr.Vinod Indurkar (Nagpur) also addressed the gathering. Drama ‘Ek Zunj Varyashi’was staged at the programme followed by the inauguration. The play was written by PL Deshpande. Besides the main centre in New Delhi, NSD has its extended centres Agartala, Benaras, Gangtok, and Bengaluru.
