Education sector incomplete sense has become a booming business sector. The coaching centres the insurance, educational loans are part of the business. As per information, extracting data related to the prospective students have now become a no costly affair. It has been reported that the private firms are getting information regarding the students and parents by paying merely Rs.2 to Rs.5.They use this data for marketing and sell their services.
But the interesting fact is to be noted here is that this is happening without the knowledge of the management. And mainly the employees of the administration department will have knowledge of the details of the students. And it is easy and mainly the price paid for the data depends on the status of the school. And data is sold between Rs.2 to Rs.5 per student. According to RTE action committee chairman, Shahid Sharif data leakage of students is an illegal act and according to section 25 of the RTE Act, it is an offense.
This matter has really questioned the privacy and security of the data. This is a grave issue and the school authority should take responsibility for this issue and ensure privacy. And the theft of such data holds provisions in the Information& Technology act. And the parents should ask all the callers how they get all the details. And they can register a complaint regarding this matter.
