Baroda restricted host Vidarbha to 213 on the first day of Cooch Behar Trophy under-19 final that began at VCA Civil Lines Stadium on Wednesday.
In reply, Baroda made 89 losing three wickets at stumps. Vidarbha won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Avesh Sheikh (23) and Mohammad Faiz (18) made 42 run partnerships for the first wicket. Aman Mokhade (1) and Sandesh Drugwar (0) returned to the pavilion cheaply. Mandar Mahale contributed 20 before becoming the victim of Parikshit.
After losing six wickets for 77 runs, Rohit Binkar and Harsh Dubey made crucial 81 run partnership for the seventh wicket by rotating the strike and punishing the poor deliveries. Tailenders Rohit Dattatraya (17), Manan Doshi (22 not out) played some crucial knocks to take Vidarbha past 200 run mark. While Kothari claimed five-wicket hauls conceding 49 runs, Patidar got four for 60.
Baroda had a shaky start. Thanks to Harsh Dubey who sent openers Dhariya Pandey (6) and Lakshyajeet Patier (5) cheaply to the pavilion. Sjipper Kush Marathe was ran out by Mandar Mahale while stealing single.
After losing three wickets for 42, Atharva Karulkar (44) and Shashwat Rawat (26) steadied the innings and took Baroda to 89 at stumps.
