Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be conducting its 33 rd Convocation on February, 17. For the convenience of its students spread across the country, IGNOU adopted a technology-mediated web-based Convocation so that students need not travel to Delhi but they can receive degrees at a nearby Regional Centre Venue.
The main function will be held at IGNOU Headquarters New Delhi. Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishankâ€, Union Minister for Human Resource Development will be the Chief Guest and deliver the convocation address and present Gold Medals.
The Convocation will be held simultaneously at Headquarters and selected 39 Regional Centres (Nagpur is one among them) through Web Conference method. The Web Conference is available at www.ignou.ac.in and Live Telecast on Gyan Darshan TV Channel, which is available through many Service Providers including Doordarshan Free Dish.
Dr. Sivaswaroop said that the Regional Centre Nagpur is organizing this Convocation at SHALOM Auditorium, Hislop College.
A total of 1124 students are eligible to receive their Master Degree, Undergraduate, Diploma and PG Diploma in this Convocation. Prof (Dr.) Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor, Kavi Kulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek will be the Guest of Honour at Nagpur and deliver the Regional Convocation Address.
He further informed that as per the tradition of Nagpur Regional Centre Students excelling in National Level, this year also one student of IGNOU Nagpur stood All India First and receiving Gold Medal. Ms Jyoti Dasila, a student of PG Diploma in Analytical Chemistry will be receiving Gold Medal at New Delhi through the hands of Union HRD Minister.
It is also glad to note that 4 Student Prisoners of Nagpur Central Jail are qualified for Diploma in Management Programme. IGNOU has been offering various programmes to Prisoners of Nagpur Central Jail since 2010.
He informed that the last date of submission of Fresh admission forms for all Programmes for January 2020 session has been extended up to February, 28.
