A number of fraudulent text messages informing individuals about the recruitment in Territorial Army (TA) at Nagpur from February 20 to 24 have circulated throughout the social media since last two weeks. As per information, on Tuesday, believing in the message, a large number of aspirants gathered in front of Sitabuldi Fort.
The authorities had to subsequently send them back, stated a press release issued by Group Captain Basantkumar Pande, Public Relations Officer (Nagpur), Ministry of Defence. Recruitment for TA is carried out under the aegis of Army Recruitment Organisation, which advertises the schedule of the recruitment well in advance through all major newspapers. Group Captain B B Pande advised the people not to fall prey to such fake messages circulated on social media.
As per the official source, many army officials have come across a message in Marathi which reads that a recruitment drive of soldier general duty (GD) and tradesman will be held from February 20 to 24.The message also had a picture of a woman identified as Surekha Patil, a corporator.It mentioned that the recruitment was for 213 posts of soldier general duty and 63 tradesman.The point to be noted here is that there is no corporator by this name in the city.
As per information, the army’s Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat (UMANG) has filed a police complaint in the matter.
