Last year’s runners-up Lokmat lost to Punyanagari by six wickets but made it to the semis on the basis of better run rate in the last super six match of 22nd OCW-SJAN Inter Press Cricket Tournament at Ambedkar College ground, here on Friday.
The tournament has been organised in association with SBI and HCL Technologies.Lokmat,Tarun bharat and Punyanagari won one match each but on the basis of better run rate Lokmat and Tarun Bharat made it to the semis from group ‘B’.
In the first semi-final The Times of India will play Tarun Bharat on Monday whereas Lokmat will clash with Deshonnati next day at the same venue.
Batting first Lokmat were all out for 130 in 18.1 overs. Nitin Pataria top scored with 51. Sharad Mishra and Sarang Walwatkar scored 12 each.
In an interesting run chase, Punyanagari achieved the target sparing one ball and six wickets. thanks to Niraj Kende who played a fabulous knock of 59. Man-of-the-match Shridhar Hatagade remained unbeaten on 39. Jayant Samudre of Samudre Engineering Works , Wardha gave man of the match trophy to Hatagade.
