Dr. Sunita Dhote (47 years old) became the first Lady Ironman of Central India after completing an Ironman 70.3, a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) IRONMAN 70.3 Dubai on February 7 next to Burj Al Arab – the stunning seven-star hotel at Jumerieh public beach, DUBAI.
The “70.3” refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run. Wherein the cutoff of 8 hours 30 minutes in total. But she finished in just 7 hours 40 minutes. Dhote is a professor at, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management at Department of Management Technology.
The motive behind accomplishing such event was to share with every one that with age you develop the wisdom as well as good health too just by investing one hour in the morning for your health through any form of physical exercise may be swimming, cycling, running, walking and many more.
Dhote even represented India in FINA 15th World Masters Championships at Monytreal, on August 10, 2014 for one meter, three meters and high board swimming pool diving in which she created a Asia Book of Record: Longest Cycle Expedition (Female) on November, 2014 by cycling distance (1,412 km) from Nagpur to Puducherry to spread the awareness about ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission
She gives credit of her success to her college Principal Dr. Rajesh Pande, Head-DMT Dr. Chandan Vichoray, college and department colleagues, Ironman Dr. Rajendra Jaiswal for motivation, my triathalon trainer Atul Godbole, Running Trainer Dr. Sunil Kapghate, my swimming coach Prabhakar Sathe and Indrajeet Khadilkar, Dr. Amit Samarth for introducing to triathlon, Team Motive, Jai athletic club, Orange City Runners buddies, MnM, all my dear friends and family. And at the end it was all possible because of full time support of her husband Nitin Dhote, Brother Ganesh Kshirsagar, her sons Tejas (20 years old) and Rajas (18 years old).
