A severe blow for the contractor JP Enterprises as after the poor quality of cement roads, Nagpur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has blacklisted the contractor for one year and also fined them Rs.8.1 lakh.As per information, the fine will be deducted from the bill of the contractor.
The work of cement road has started in city for the durable road network in the city. The first phase was implemented by the civic body itself. Works worth 750 crore are being done in three phases.However, the construction of the roadworks is not that satisfactory and quality of the road has not been taken into consideration. As per information, the civic body handed over the work to JP Enterprises about Rs.32.4786151 crore.
Under Cement Concrete Road Project Phase-3, the Paver Block of Road No.31 from Ek Stambh Square to North Ambazari Road was not of M-45 as per standards.
Due to the lack of quality, the cracks are reported in the cement road. And paver blocks are also not being installed as per the standards. And it created lot of problems for the citizens. And civic chief has already clarified that the defects of the cement road project will be exposed. And it has been reported that there is a huge irregularity in the first phase of the NMC Cement Road Project. And in this Rs.101.18 crore were to be spent on 30 roads of 25.775 km length by NMC.But another contractor did the work in a snails pace manner and its cost went up to RS.127 Crore.And only 15 km road was constructed out of 25km.And the project was to be finished in 24 months. Despite after 9 years, the work has not been completed.
