Shri Rajendra High School lifted the Under-16 Girls title in the Nagpur leg of Mumbai Indians Junior 2020 Cricket Tournament. Shivashree Dhabe of Rajendra stunned her opponents with a phenomenal five-wicket haul at the much-awaited final match against The South Public School on Thursday.
Shivashree unleashed a destructive spell of 4.1 overs in which she sent back half of The South Public-School side back to the pavilion after conceding just 10 runs. The South Public School could never recover from Shivashree’s impactful spell and they could muster only 87 all-out in 16.1 overs.
Chasing a small target, Rajendra batters Nihari Kawle and Sanskruti Talwekar took their side home to a nine-wicket win despite losing a wicket early. Nihari remained unbeaten on 29 while Sanskruti matched her with an unbeaten 28. Shivashree took the ‘Player of the Match’ title in the all-important final.
In the Boy’s U-16 category in Nagpur, Podar International School will meet Gaikwad Patil International School in the final. Both won their respective semi-finals on Thursday.
Atharva Babulgaokar of Podar picked up five crucial wickets to set up a six-wicket win over Centre Point School, Katol Road. His feat with the bowling meant Centre Point School were bowled out for 166/10 in 37.1 overs.Â
Babulgaokar later chipped in with 13 runs to contribute in a chase which was made easy by Atharva Masharkar’s unbeaten knock of 62 runs. Palash Kanoje also made 31 runs in the winning cause.
Meanwhile, Kshitij Deosant of Gaikwad Patil International School led the charge for his school’s entry into the Boys’ U-16 finals, thanks to his four-wicket haul and 22 runs on the board, defeating Shri Rajendra High School by 81 runs.
