Gaikwad Patil International School were crowned Champions in the Boys U-16 category of Mumbai Indians Junior Cricket Tournament in Nagpur on Tuesday. They rode on Shafin Pathan’s all-round performance to outclass Podar International School by 26 runs in a low scoring final.
Batting first, Gaikwad Patil batsmen struggled to put up a challenging total and were bowled out for 112 in 35 overs. Hrishikesh Bhogade (29) and Pathan (26) were the only batsmen to put up some fight and take Gaikwad’s total beyond three figures.
After a watch knock in 55 balls with the bat on a tricky wicket, Pathan later sizzled with the ball by taking three wickets in eight overs. The big match pressure and big jolts from Pathan meant Podar batsmen couldn’t rise up to the challenge and were bowled out for 86 in 30 overs.
