After several delays and many unwanted and unnecessary problems faced by the shopkeepers of Khau Galli and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officers, the arrangement finally had good start. Citizens to this chain of eateries gave a huge and positive response while the shop owner earned with a smooth income. At the same time, these same shop owners had to struggle their way out for few necessities which could have been provided by NMC at the time of renovating the area for Khau Galli.
But just like other irregularities, NMC proved to be the same this time as well. The shop owners at Khau Galli are facing issues over water supply as the whole site has got just one tap which is near the main entrance of Khau Galli. Though the owners have been given shops and lockers to keep their belongings in a safe place some shopkeepers have been complaining about these small factors which should be solved by NMC.
On the basis of anonymity one shop owner described the situation with TLN, “ I have my shop quite far from where the tap has been provided and as per the need I have to carry my water cans to the main gate many times in between of a busy schedule. There is a risk that I can lose my customers who are waiting for their orders in such situationsâ€.
This is not the first time that shopkeepers of Khau Galli have been facing problems. These same stall owners were asked to hold their openings even after the project was inaugurated on January 9. In that period as Khau Galli is at the same place were Chor Bazaar of Nagpur is held every Saturday few things which belonged to shop owners were stolen.
