To check the growing involvement of children in anti-social activities, a demand for opening a branch of Indian Society of Criminology (ISC) has been demanded. In a letter to the Secretary of the Society Dr Syed Umarhathab, University of Madras, Chennai, Dr nandkishor Bhagat, a teacher in Criminology and Correction Administration, Athawle College of Social Work, Bhandara Dr Nandkishor Bhagat has stated that Nagpur Chapter of the ISC should be opened.
Dr Bhagat, who is a life member of the Society attended national conference of the Society at Dr Harisingh Gour Central University, Saugar, held recently. In-depth discussion on causes and possible solutions and social work intervention in criminal activities at young age was held during the conference. Dr Bhagat has been engaged in guiding the students in the subject and has also written research papers, carried out doctoral research on need for social work intervention along with police personnel in controlling crime and rehabilitation of those involved in crime. He has sought permission to open Nagpur Chapter of Indian Society for Criminology.
