Recently a  female officer in district collectorate had complained of harassment against a sub-divisional officer (SDO) in September 2019 to the Women’s Commission, divisional commissioner and district collector office, the female officer had made several serious allegations against the concerned SDO in this complaint.
The Vishakha Committee is appointed in all government offices to deal with issues regarding women employees. However, despite the existence of Vishakha Committee in district collectorate office, issues regarding harassment are being enquired by male officers. This has created discontent among the female officers and employees. They have expressed the need for re enquiry through a female officer in such cases.
The divisional commissioner had directed the district collector to enquire into this matter and send a report. District collector Ravindra Thakre summoned for concerned file and directed additional collector Shrikant Phadke to conduct enquiry.
As per the sources, during the enquiry most of the female employees avoided sharing information with him. Because the complaint was by a woman, it was expected to be dealt by the Vishakha committee.
