Shri Rajendra High School lifted the Nagpur leg of the Mumbai Indians Junior 2020 cricket tournament in the Boys U-14 category. The Rajendra boys carried forward their dominance to the final on Sunday by thrashing Centre Point School, Dabha by five wickets.
All-rounder Shree Choudhary was the star player for the winning team as he scored a half-century after picking up four wickets with the ball. Choudhary, who was in brilliant touch with the bat throughout the tournament struck a sedate 53 in 95 balls to help Rajendra chase a tricky target of 151 in the last over on a difficult wicket.
Yash Gupta also scored a defiant 24 under pressure to ensure Rajendra remained on course for a chase despite a few hiccups. Choudhary curtailed his aggressive instincts to stay put for a longer period at the crease and didn’t panic as runs dried up to ensure his team didn’t fumble at the crucial stage.
Earlier, batting first, Centre Point School, Dabha couldn’t replicate the Saturday’s dominating batting show in the semi-final and were bowled out for 150 in 37.5 overs in the final on Sunday. Choudhary did the maximum damage with the ball as well to keep the rival batsmen under check despite their ruthless form in the tournament. Choudhary was assisted by some disciplined bowling performance from his fellow bowlers and some good fielding.
