Maha Metro has taken a series of initiatives to avoid the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19). After taking steps like fumigating Metro Stations and making provisions for thermal scanning of its workforce, Maha Metro has issued advisory for its commuters. The advisory is a series of Dos and Don’ts for the citizens using Metro Services.
The advisory issued following directives to that effect by Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD, Maha Metro, is aimed at encouraging the public to maintain social distancing, which is essential in the fight against Covid-19. The advisory is as per the guidelines issued on these lines by Union Government from time to time.
Avoid non-essential travel: The advisory urges passengers to use Metro services for essential and unavoidable travel only. It also urges commuters to follow the principle of social distancing, which is essential to avoid any contact with fellow passengers. As per this principle, a distance of 1 metre from each other is to be maintained while travelling in the Metro train or at the station. Thus standing passengers won’t be allowed and alternate seats would be left vacant inside the train.
Thermal Scanning of Passengers: Random thermal scanning of passengers will be carried out at all metro stations. In case anyone has fever or is observed to have any symptom of Corona Virus, he/she will be referred for medical tests and quarantine to the concerned medical authorities. Trains may not stop at such stations which may be having crowding i.e. less than the expected distance of 1 metre between passengers. This apart, any passenger with symptoms similar to those infected by COVID–19 virus, are strictly advised to avoid travel by the Metro or any other mode of public transport.
Follow Government Advisory: In course of the journey and stay within the Metro premises, passengers are requested to follow the advisory issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India from time to time to contain the spread of Corona Virus. Maha Metro also urges passengers to co-operate, be patient and help authorities to deal with this global crisis to mitigate its spread.
