After a long wait, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University RTMNU) issued an advertisement inviting applications for the post of Vice-Chancellor (V-C).As per information; the Search Committee for the post of V-C has been formed with retired High Court Judge Dilip Bhosale as its Chairman and Principal Secretary of Maharashtra Government’s Water Resources Department Sanjay Chahande as Secretary.
RTM Nagpur University’s Academic Council and Management Council had nominated Director of IIT Kanpur Abhay Karandikar. The term of present V-C, Dr S P Kane will end on April 7. But the new V-C is likely to be selected in the month of May. The Search Committee has issued advertisement on March 20 and the last date for submission of the applications/ nominations is April 20. This will be followed by scrutiny of the applications by the Search Committee and selecting a panel of five candidates to the Chancellor.
The Chancellor after interviewing the five will select the person to be appointed. The Maharashtra Public Universities Act provides for starting the procedure for selection of the new incumbent six months prior to end of term of the sitting VC. The procedure got delayed because of Assembly elections and delay information of government. The nominations of the Chairman and Secretary were delayed, resulting in delay in starting the procedure. Besides the aspirants submitting the application, any institute may nominate a candidate. Dr R Premkumar, Registrar of IIT Bombay, Powai, has been appointed the Nodal Officer.

Applicants are required to write a note justifying candidature for the coveted post and a two-page vision statement for the university.
