Due to the Corona epidemic in the country, IGNOU has taken several preventive steps. The theory and practical classes are suspended until 31st March. The assignment submission the last date has also been extended up to 30th April. Students have requested that due to Corona Virus, all the Net cafes are closed and so they are unable to submit Online Exam forms.
Acceding to this request, IGNOU has extended the last date to submit Exam forms also from 31st March to 30th April. IGNOU Nagpur Regional Centre has established exam centers at Gadchiroli, Buldhana, Nanded, Wardha, Amravati, Nagpur. And also for the benefit of tribal students, an Exam Centre is established at Kurkheda also. Â For Prisoners of Nagpur and Amravati Central Jails, Exam Centres are established in these Two Prisons.
To avoid student gatherings at the Induction Meetings at various Study Centres, IGNOU Nagpur has conducted Combined Induction Meeting for all the Nagpur students through Gyan Vani Radio on 20th March.
Dr P Sivaswaroop, Regional Director explained the concept of Distance Education, about IGNOU, study methods, how to use study material, the evaluation methods in IGNOU, Examination system etc. He explained the roles and responsibilities of students in a Distance Education and the facilities provided by IGNOU to facilitate the learning desire of the students.
In this Phone–in-Radio programme, 24 calls were received (generally 5-6 calls are received in one hour programme) and Dr Sivaswaroop clarified their doubts. The callers include students of MBA, BA, BSc, MCom etc. Interestingly, one students of Nagpur, who is on tour at Chennai called on the telephone and clarified his doubts also.
As per directions of the HRD Ministry, for the safety of its staff members, IGNOU has permitted all its staff members to work from Home, till 31 st March. As a preventive measure, complete dispatch of study material by IGNOU has been stopped across the Country. So, students may use digital materials available on IGNOU website (e-Gyankosh) and also may access study materials through IGNOU e-content App, which can be downloaded through Google Play store on the mobile
Home Assignment Question papers are also available on the IGNOU website and students may download them and prepare answers at Home.
