After putting a halt on collection of school fees from parents during the lockdown the Maharashtra government on Friday has ordered landlords to delay rent collection by at least three months and to not evict tenants from their properties during the countrywide lockdown in place till May 3 to contain the spread of deadly coronavirus infection.
Maharashtra State Housing Department has issued instructions to landlords to postpone rent collection by at least 3 months.
According to the official order, no landlord will evict their tenant during this period.
“Landlords have been instructed to postpone rent collection by at least three months. During this period, no tenant should be evicted from their rented houses for non-payment of rents,†it stated. The state government also warned of strict action against those landlords who evict their tenants.
