The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has designated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur as a " mentor institute" to establish COVID-19 diagnostic facilities for the medical colleges in Maharashtra, Goa, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
In this context, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur conducted a webinar on 20 Tth of April on “Sample collection and transport for COVID-19â€. The activity jointly conducted by the departments of ENT and Microbiology of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur, aimed at training the medical fraternity in the state of Maharashtra and at large, incorrect sample collection and transport methods; to effectively detect and combat ongoing COVID- 19 pandemics.
The session comprised of video-lectures and an interactive question and answer session, wherein guidelines to tackle the common practical problems in handling and transport of COVID-19 samples were discussed.
A total of 130 logins, and over 150 participants from various government and private medical colleges, civil hospitals in Maharashtra and health care professionals from across the country actively participated in the webinar. The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Director & CEO, AIIMS Nagpur, Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, SM and officiating Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar.
