Amid a spurt in the Coronavirus cases, the city administration on Wednesday deployed two State Reserve Police Force companies, one IRB battalion, along with around 150-odd personnel of GRPF to tackle the COVID-19 and flush out the suspects who are still hiding about their close contact with the positive patients and firmly deal with those who are not cooperating with the administration in this regard.
The district administration informed that all these additional police forces were deployed in the hotspots of the city, particularly in central Nagpur—Mominpura, Satranjipura, Shanti Nagar and Bhaldarpura. These additional police forces would be attached with Tahsil, Kotwali, Shanti Nagar, Yashodha Nagar and Ganeshpeth police stations of Nagpur.
The city police commissioner, Dr Bhushan Udhadhaya said that these forces would guard the sensitive areas of those hotspots areas and ensure that prohibitory order is strictly maintained.
Meanwhile, a seventy-year-old person of Mominpura, a hotspot of COVID-19 died of the deadly virus on Wednesday morning. He was tested positive on April 21 and was admitted at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital where he died this morning. With his death, the toll has risen to two. Earlier, one 68-year old person from Satranjipura died of COVID-19.
The total positive cases in Nagpur has reached to 136.
