Amid lockdown in Nagpur city the Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) of the civic administration had done good deal of work as they had collected fine worth Rs.17.64 lakh from 13339 people in city for littering and spitting in public places from March 24 to April 25.
Due to lockdown, the NMC has shut down the Cotton Market to avoid crowding and set up new markets in various parts of the city to decentralise the crowd. As per information, fine was collected by NDS from people not observing rules of cleanliness in these markets.
As per official source, fine worth Rs.2.36 lakh was recovered from 265 persons in Dhantoli zone.Rs 2.54 lakh from 192 persons in Mangalwari zone, Rs 1.11 lakh from 149 persons in Laxminagar zone and Rs 1.46 lakh from 145 persons in Nehrunagar.Action was taken against 584 persons for littering and spitting in vegetable market at Dhantoli’s Yashwant stadium. Similarly, fine worth Rs 2.42 lakh was recovered from 218 persons for keeping building material on the footpaths and for encroachments. The NDS also had taken strict action against people roaming in the city without wearing mask and imposed the fine RAS 1.84 lakh on 301 persons during the lockdown which had been made mandatory.
