At present, Nagpur is facing a big challenge as the novel coronavirus cases in city are increasing day by day. In this week itself, there have been a raise of fifty plus cases which were not just recorded from the hotspots but from three different locations. Meanwhile, 194 suspected patients have been put in quarantine, other than the residents who are said to have come in direct contact of the deceased patients, from Mominpura, Satranjipura and Parvati Nagar.
Getting over the issue of separate quarantine facilities which ultimately lead to an issue of staff management, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has started developing a mega quarantine centre on the outskirts of the city.
The 190 acre land on Kalmeshwar Road, can easily accommodate thousand plus patients when the facility is totally prepared. This land belongs to a religious cult named Radha Saomi Satsang and already has a dome which is now being turned into a quarantine facility.
Residents from all the hotspots in the city have been vigorously put in quarantine recently, which has covered up the previously provided centres by the government and even the private quarantine facilities. More than five quarantine centres have been tightly packed with the residents from hot spots and the suspects, yet the numbers are increasing.
According to civic authorities, NMC is now falling short of staff which includes doctors, nurses and other support staff for separate facilities, so it would be a proper step to have all the patients at one place.
Manish Soni, PRO smart city told TLN, “The quarantine facility is almost done and it would take just another week to start shifting people to centre.â€
