The state government Saturday announced that it will provide free bus services within Maharashtra to take migrant workers and other persons, including tourists and students, stranded in various parts of the state, except in Covid-19 containment zones, due to the nationwide lockdown.
The authorities have been directed to begin the state transport service only on the condition to ensure that the proper measures should be taken to avoid the spread of coronavirus to other parts of the state. It also stated that social distancing should be maintained.
In case of the people, stuck in cities having police Commissionerate, and desirous to return to their native place by ST buses, they will have to get the permission of the nodal officer concerned (deputy commissioner of police) for undertaking the journey.
