Whole country was under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The migrant workers who were stuck in their workplace were relentlessly demanding conveyance to reach their native. The government consider their demand positively and Special Trains were run to carry Migrant laborers home.
SECL is playing its role and has not left any stone unturned to ensure that no migrant laborer goes hungry as the Shramik Special trains pass through Bilaspur railway station.
On May 31 SECL distributed 1650 food packets and water bottles to the Migrant laborers travelling by Rajkot-Bandel Shramik Special Train (No. 09273) & Vasai Road-Howrah Shramik Special Train (No. 09245) at the Bilaspur Railway Station. Similarly, on 01.06.2020, SECL distributed 1300 food packets and water bottles to the Migrant laborers travelling by Pune-Howrah Shramik Special Train (No. 09273). These activities were carried out under the CSR initiative of SECL.
It is pertinent to mention that like other countries in the world, India is also severely affected by the global pandemic COVID-19. The lockdowns were imposed by the Government of India in different stages to counter the community spreading of Corona Virus. Due to this, the migrant laborer was stuck in their workplace, far from their native. Indian Railways has operated several Special Trains to safely transcend those migrant laborers to their native.
