Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday has said that the journalists working in the field have been given an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh. He was on tour of Buldana district and inaugurated s COVID Care Centre.
Elaborating on the insurance cover the Minister pointed out that the cover was for all those who are actively working to fight against COVID-19 and it included journalists as well. The Collector will decide whether any journalist has died while fighting COVID-19 or not. And if he sends such a proposal to Government, kin of the scribe would get the compensation.
District Superintendent of Police Dr Dilip Patil Bhujbal, MLA Akash Phundkar and former MLA Dilipkumar Sananda were present at the brief function.
Tope said on the occasion that the fact that 50 per cent of the patients have recovered from the disease is more important than the rise in number of cases. Moreover, the growth rate of patients has also slowed down and death rate is stable. He also added that the state government has decided to reserve 80 per cent beds in private hospitals for COVID. But the concerned District Collector will take the final call on this issue.
