After the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the whole world witnessed drastic changes which severely affected the lives of normal people. And gradually the public is returning to normalcy. And Railway Board has decided to initiate Tatkal for trains that are currently in operations. As per the notification, Tatkal tickets can be booked in trains bearing number series starting with ‘0’ from June 29 onwards for services of June 30. The process is same as was in place before the lockdown wherein one could book Tatkal for any trains 24 hours before commencement of train from originating station.
En route stations there were different rules, two of three days. But now most of the train services in operation in regulated manner the travel period of all are within 24 hours period. All the other rules as to RAC and wait list would continue as per current procedures.
Similarly, unreserved tickets sale is still not allowed nor any tickets could be issued on board. Only those traveller having confirmed tickets and RAC would be able to travel. As to wait listed there is some concession if it is a group ticket then if one person’s berth is confirmed then others to be can be allowed. For example if there are two travellers on one PNR then in case one berth is allotted the other co-passenger can also undertake travel. First chart will be prepared at least four hours before scheduled department and second chart two hours. At present second chart is prepared 30 minutes before departure of the train. Only asymptomatic passengers are allowed to board the trains.
