The modernisation of base kitchen at Nagpur railway station has commenced to provide good quality snacks and food to passengers at reasonable price. The work had started in December 2019 by IRCTC but could not be finished due to lockdown.However, the work continued again after the relaxation in the lockdown rules. As per information, the ‘modern base kitchen ‘will be available in service for the travellers soon.
The railway board has given the responsibility of base kitchen to IRCTC who started modernisation of base kitchen on Platform No 1 of Nagpur Railway Station in December 2019.The work was supposed to complete up to March 2020.But the lockdown affected the progress of the work and it came to standstill.
After the lockdown was relaxed, the work has started again. Cooking and packing sections are being carved out of base kitchen and would function independently.Besides, preparation section to cook food and other necessary sections are also being prepared. Outsiders will not be permitted enter in base kitchen and strictly maintain cleanliness while preparing food.
