The South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, on Thursday, set a new record in operations with ‘Super Python’ goods train with empty rakes from Parmalkasa to Durg. The ‘Super Python ‘was formed by connecting four goods trains having 236 wagons, four brake vans, and nine electrical locomotives.
This‘SuperPython’ was run for the first time in the history of Indian Railways, from Parmalkasa station to Durg. The train left Parmalkasa at 12.20 pm and reached Durg at 1.05 pm. It ran at a speed of 63 kmph, and reached the destination in 45 minutes. Usually, the empty goods train runs at a speed of 25-30 kmph. The rakes will be sent from Durg to Bilaspur, from where those will be sent further to Korba. The‘Super Python’ crossed the railway track with ups and downs and gradients. The train was 2.8 kms in length. Due to efficiency and vigilance of Operations Department of SECR Nagpur Division, the speed of goods trains has improved. The reforms in divisional railway operations and innovations, surprise speed inspections using speed guns have resulted in increase in speed of goods trains from an average 50-60 kmph to 80 kmph.
