Maharashtra is already in number one spot as the cases of COVID-19 are still increasing, now it seems like state prisons are the new zones of COVID-19. A total of 596 inmates and 167 jail staff have tested positive for COVID-19 in jails of Maharashtra till date. Among this, the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases is reported from Nagpur Central Prison. 219 inmates and 57 jail staff have contracted the infection in Nagpur Central Prison informed State Prison Department.
Till now 281 inmates and 93 jail staffs have been cured in jails of Maharashtra while 4 died due to the deadly disease till now.
According to the Medical Education and Drugs Department, Maharashtra the count of affected people with COVID-19 in the state has reached 2,30,599 total cases, with 6,875 new cases registered, with 219 new deaths which have increased the total number of death to 9,667. The mortality rate of Maharashtra is 4.19%.
