Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Nagpur regional unit has seized cannabis worth Rs.3.07, 5300 in two separate actions and arrested 6 people.
As per information, DRI Nagpur regional unit took the first action near Mouda Toll Naka, Mathani Bhandara Road in which they seized 637 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs.95.55 lakh and arrested 3 accused.
The cannabis was being transported in a truck and was covered by tarpaulin.After getting information, DRI officials spotted the car of the accused (MH14/CC/817) on July 14 at around 2.30 pm near Mouda Toll Naka, Mathani.DRI officials stopped the car and during questioning the accused confessed that cannabis was being smuggled in a truck (MH16/AE/5745) which was found near Reliance petrol pump in Wathode, Pardi.
Prior to the action in Mouda DRI officials on July 11 had followed a bus for over 6 hours near Uttar Pradesh border with the help of Uttar Pradesh police,1,410 kilograms of cannabis worth Rs.2,11,50,000 was seized from the bus.Further investigation is underway.
