Ex Cabinet Minister Dr. Anees Ahmed today sent a deputation to  CM Uddhav Thackeray, Education Minister Uday Samant, Education Secretary Saurabh Vijay and Director DTE Abhay Wagh demanding to cancel CET for admissions to professional and technical courses in outbursts of Covid 19.
Ahmed said State Government has lined up following CETs like Law (5 and 3 years) ,B.Ed,M.Ed,BP.Ed,MP.Ed,BA BEd,BSc ,BEd ,BHMCT,MHMCT,M Arch ,MCA ,MHTCET,MAHAACCET.
Anees Ahmed who himself had handled education ministry in the past said that Maharashtra is one of the most affected areas with Covid 19 cases in India ,and Govt of Maharashtra has extended the lockdown in State till 31st July.
In view of this he demanded cancelation of Common Entrance Tests for admissions to professional and technical courses
Anees said that Maharashtra State Government is coming up with tentative dates, students are now worried. Many students have gone to their respective hometowns once campuses started emptying out in March to stop the spread of coronavirus and are now worried as they lack study material and relevant coaching . Also conducting common entrance tests would be time consuming process and coming academic session of the students would be hampered, he said.
Taking into account the above ,it is requested to grant admissions to students on the basis of the percentile in their last examination appeared and do away with common entrance tests for this academic year, demanded Anees Ahmed
