The human trial of COVID-19 vaccine has begun in Maharashtra for the first time. On Monday, the India made Covaxin vaccine was administered to one woman and two men in the Multi-Speciality Hospital of Dr.Chandrashekhar Gillurkar.As per information, four more people were administered the vaccine on Tuesday. The process will continue and about 40 to 50 people will be given the vaccine.
The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has selected 12 centres for the human trial of the Covaxin manufactured by Bharat Biotech.Gillurkar Hospital of Nagpur is included in the list. After testing 50 people, the samples of the blood have been sent to Delhi and Mumbai labs. A 25 and 31 year old man and 53 year old woman were vaccinated on Monday, after samples of first eight individuals were found to be normal. No side effects of this vaccine have been seen so far.Vaccine were given to four more people on Tuesday. This includes 20, 32, 35 and 43 year old man.0.5 ml dose of Covaxin was given to them. A medical team of the hospital will be in touch with them for the next 14 days.
