G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur (GHRCE, Nagpur) selected as one of the nodal centre amongst 41 centres at national level to facilitate the Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2020) software edition operations and support to participants. The program will be inaugurated at nodal centre GHRCE also will be centrally inaugurated from New Delhi by Minister for HRD and Hon’ble Minister of State for HRD on 1st August, 2020 at 8:00 am. Chief Guest of the inaugural function will be Mr. Shashikant Chaudhary, Angel Investor and Guest of Honour Mr. Shrikant Dube, Plant Head, Mahindra, Nagpur. Shri Sunilji Raisoni, Chairman, Board of Governance GHRCE and Dr. Sachin Untawale Director, GHRCE will preside over the function.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister will also interact with the students on August 1, 2020 at 7:00 PM like every year. This year the SIH Software Edition is being conducted in online mode from 1st August to 3rd August, 2020.
Student participants, SIH coordinators and industry evaluators are coming together on a digital platform designed to facilitate the implementation of the event seamlessly, managed centrally by MHRD’s Innovation Cell & All India Council for Technical Education. Total 16 (sixteen) teams having 106 participants are competing against 03 (Three) Problem Statements from AICTE-MIC (Student Innovation).
G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur is hosting problem statements given by AICTE-MIC (Student Innovation). Each Problem statement has a winning amount. This year SIH team and experts from Participating Ministries/ Companies/ Organizations will centrally monitor the performance of each student innovator during hackathon and will decide on funding their Innovation and on offering them an opportunity of internship or job at their organization.
Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving. Smart India Hackathon is conducted every year since 2017 in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions. Smart India Hackathon used to be conducted at various nodal centers each year, where student participants, industry representative and mentors used to congregate physically at the assigned nodal centers to provide a solution on the selected problems.
